Victoria Indymedia Now online

imcLogo_jpgThe new Victoria Independent Media Centre is online.
From wikipedia:
“The Independent Media Center (aka Indymedia or IMC) is a global participatory network of journalists that report on political and social issues. It originated during the anti-WTO protests worldwide in 1999 and remains closely associated with the global justice movement, which criticizes neo-liberalism, and its associated institutions. Indymedia uses an open publishing and democratic media process that allows anybody to contribute.”
Victoria had an Indymedia collective a few years back, but like many volunteer run efforts, it fizzled out.
Now, after the hard work of one particular local activist, VicIMC is back online. It sounds as if most of the work involved writing an editorial policy that satisfied the global IMC collective. Then the global IMC had to throw some cyber-switches on their end, and then the VicIMC had to shuffle some cyber-code on this end, and bam, now if you go to victoria.indymedia.org, you’ll see the site.
Previously it was at vicindymedia.org as we waited for the global IMC collective to grant the subdomain. (The site has been up for almost a year, and has already been hacked once, causing the loss of all articles.)
So spread the word, and consider posting articles.
