Hummingbird takes Island detour

A ruby-throated hummingbird likely born east of B.C. a few months ago, should have flown south on its winter migration.
Instead, the diminutive bird took a detour to Martin Dollenkamp’s yard in Black Creek, south of Campbell River. Its short stay ended about Sept. 1.
